What are glycerin moisturizers in the Barrett-Jackson leather cleaner?

Glycerin works by absorbing water from the air or on a surface and is typically found in high-end skin care moisturizers. By adding this to the leather cleaner, it helps renew the interior surfaces.  

Will the leather cleaner work on vinyl seat?

Yes, the leather cleaner will work on various surfaces including plastic, vinyl, rubber, leather and trim.

TIP – Spray the leather cleaner on a dry, clean cloth and then apply to surface. This will avoid any streaking with a spray.

Can I use the interior protectant on my leather?

Is the Barrett-Jackson interior protectant greasy like others are?

How do I get long-lasting tire shine?

Choose a thick formula that clings to the vertical tire sidewall which will eliminate “tire sling” onto body panels — such as the Barrett-Jackson Tire Shine. This will allow the product to adhere better and last longer.

TIP – Apply Tire Shine in thin and even coats. Drive your vehicle a few feet forward after you apply your first coat so that the section of the tire that was closest to the ground will get an even application as well.

How do I apply Chrome and/or Metal Polish on my Wheels?

Once you have cleaned and dried your wheels, apply a small dime-size amount of polish onto an applicator pad. Spread a thin layer of polish over your wheel evenly. Continue to rub polish and let dry to a haze. Use a clean microfiber towel to buff polish. Repeat as needed. 

Should I use a Chrome and/or Metal Polish?

A chrome and/or metal polish is a great way to give your wheels that shiny finish. First, wash your wheels and tires with Barrett-Jackson Wheel Cleaner and follow up with Barrett-Jackson Chrome & Metal Polish for optimum results. 

I have special rims on my vehicle, is the Barrett-Jackson Wheel Cleaner still safe to use?

How frequently should I wash my wheels and tires?

It is best to wash your wheels and tires each time you wash your car, every week or every other week. This will prevent build-up in the wheels and keep the cleaning process minimal. It is safe to use a car wash solution on your wheels first and follow up with the Wheel Cleaner. 

What is the best way to clean my wheels?

Start with wheels that are cool to the touch and out of direct sunlight. Spray the entire wheel surface with Barrett-Jackson Wheel Cleaner and let it soak in for 30 seconds. Rinse with a strong hose stream, repeat as needed. Use a soft brush for problem areas.

TIP – For best results, you may want to use a second application dependent upon the level of dirt and grime you have.

Do I need to dry my car after I wash It?

Yes, it’s important to quickly dry your car after washing to eliminate any water spots from developing. Use a chamois (natural or synthetic) and blot the water off the car.

TIP – Avoid using a terry cloth; these can leave lint or build up on your car's surface.

Is a drive through car wash okay to use?

Many gas stations or similar car washes use mechanical brushes which can damage the paint surface on your car. The water can also be recycled water, which while good for the environment, can be bad for your car. There can be rust in the water from older cars, dissolved salt from winter weather, and chemicals that do not get caught by the filters. The best wash is always a hand wash.

When do I use a scratch remover?

The Barrett-Jackson Scratch & Swirl Remover is best used to restore minor scratches and swirl marks in your paint. The scratch polish works by filling in and smoothing out these imperfections, leaving your car with a smooth, clean finish.

TIP – For best results, try varying the direction in which you're polishing. Use medium pressure; too much pressure can damage the paint surface.

How do I avoid swirl marks when washing my car?

It’s important to always use a clean sponge on your car when washing. Use a separate sponge on your tires and wheels to avoid spreading brake dust and debris to the rest of the car and get a second sponge for the remainder of the vehicle.

TIP – Try using two buckets of water, one bucket to hold your soapy water and the second with clean water. Dip your sponge into the clean water to remove the dirt and residue before you retrieve more soap for the next section of your car.

Is liquid, paste or spray wax best?

All three will provide your vehicle the same protective coating; it primarily comes down to personal preference. Some enthusiasts like to use the liquid or paste due to the thicker consistency while a spray wax is a quicker method. Barrett-Jackson offers all three versions of wax.

TIP – Use a soft, clean microfiber towel to buff the wax off for best results.

How often should I “wax” my car?

For maximum protection against the harmful environmental elements, we recommend waxing your car an average of 3-4 times a year. Vehicles kept covered can last longer while vehicles kept outside may need to be waxed as often as once a month. Darker color cars will also require more frequent waxing.

TIP – To help extend your wax protection, always use a wash designed for automotive use. Otherwise, you can strip the wax. We suggest Barrett-Jackson Wash & Wax.

When do I use a Detailer?

A detailer is used for touch-ups in between waxing. If your car gets wet by a sprinkler, you have handprints on your hood, or other small containments, a detailer is a quick and easy way to clean these up. Use a detailer for a quick-shine top coat.

TIP - You can also use a detailer after washing your car if you’ve recently waxed your vehicle and want a gloss finish. The Barrett-Jackson Rapid Detailer is made with genuine Carnauba wax and will leave your car with a deep wet-look shine. 

Why can’t I use household cleaners to wash my car?

Household cleaners like dishwashing detergent and hand soap are not formulated for use on a car. They are specifically designed to dissolve grease which can strip the protective wax. Some household detergents also have micro-fine abrasives in them which can permanently scratch your car's surface. Using a premium car wash like Barrett-Jackson Wash & Wax will safely remove the dirt and leave your car with a clean, shiny finish. 

What is the difference between a polish and a wax?

Polishes contain compounds designed to remove scratches from the surface of your paint, while waxes protect your car with a clear, hard coating. Waxes can be either synthetic or natural. The high-grade Carnauba wax, found in Barrett-Jackson wax, delivers the best combination of lasting protection and deep gloss. Polishes provide the "shine" for your paint, while waxes provide the "protection."

TIP – If you use a polish, look for one that matches the color of your car.

Can I wax my vehicle in the sun?

While you can wax your vehicle in the sun, for best results we recommend you wax out of direct sunlight. When your paint’s finish gets hot, it “bakes” the wax, hardening it to a point where it can be more difficult to remove.

TIP – Try early morning or late afternoon when the sun’s at a low angle, or try pulling the vehicle under a tree, in a garage or into the shade of a building.
